About Us

Italian Academy is an Italian language school in Toronto that creates confident Italian speakers. Our Italian classes are designed to engage students in active Italian language learning. Our goal is to have the language take root in the learner, instead of passively listening to the teacher. 

Francesco Fattorusso created Italian Academy in 2018. Francesco grew up in Pompeii, literally using the ruins of Pompeii as his childhood playground. He is a certified teacher in England and Ontario with over 20 years of teaching experience. 

  In 2015, Francesco came to Toronto with his family: his Canadian wife and then newborn son. He and his family spend each summer in Italy giving his (now two) boys a regular immersive experience. He noticed that even though he speaks exclusively with his children in Italian, it was the summers in Italy and other immersive Italian experiences in Toronto, that really made the difference in their Italian speaking. 

Building on his teaching in England, Wales and Italy, Francesco founded Italian Academy with this same immersive goal for his students in mind. At Italian Academy we connect our students directly to Italy. Our Italian classes and events get you speaking and give you a taste. Our rich store of resources supports your learning.
